You have played this game before. Many times. This has to be one of the most uninspired games of all time for the SNES, and yet it remains fun. The plot: Kill mutated humans from taking over earth. That's it. Sounds sort of like Contra 3, huh? Oh yeah, and the gameplay is a complete Contra 3 rip-off, except instead of guns, you'll use light sabers. There are five stages to destroy, each with a totally different setting, and crap-tastic techno music. This is the game for people who want to play something unoriginal.
Graphics [7/10]:
They are nice and detailed, but the effects and mode 7 parts are no where near the quality of other mindless action games. Not to mention, Run Sabers has the worst opening cinema I have ever seen in a game.
Sound [5/10]:
Techno music. 'Nuff said. Oh, and the game sounds rather bland, and sometimes like a NES.
Gameplay [6.5/10]:
As unoriginal and mostly too easy as this game is, I'll admit I had some fun, especially with two players. Just kill everything in this game, there's even a power-up that kills everything on screen (Contra, cough, cough 3). The gameplay is balanced, however, and in this game's genre, game balance is everything.
Overall [72%]:
This will not be game you will be dusting off awhile from now to play (although I heard a rumor that Atlus is making a sequel for a next-gen console) and it is only recommended for action fanatics who played everything else. The fact is, nothing about this game is really memorable. It's not real bad, though. Worth a rental, or $10 (what I paid for it).
